About The Artwork

This series was inspired by Stephen King's The Langoliers. Airports have always seemed to me to be an intermediate zone between worlds. Waiting rooms before going to heaven, or to another place, to another reality. These are the places where people do not stay long, so there is always a sense of movement and air in them. They are also associated with a premonition of a dream about flight, about moving in time and space. In the book, airports are the scene of paranormal events, and it became interesting for me to explore them as locations for an unfinished film. The architecture of the airports, the layout of the premises and the feeling of "transition" that we experience, hooked me much more than the history of the langoliers themselves. However, even their description in the book is rather vague, and it is not completely clear whether they are not a natural product of a de-energized, lifeless environment. Here I remember Nothing from the fairy tale Endless story, how Nothing swallowed the land of Fantasy, and it came in the form of darkness and emptiness. So the spaces of the airports themselves, and the desire to grasp the disappearing feeling of life became the field of my studies. When I find myself at these transfer points, I catch a feeling that I'm between reality and dreams, and it seems to me a little bit more and a gap in this transparent wall will open. Acrylic seemed to be the most accurate paint to represent the "simulated reality" found in airports. Its unnatural colors look modern, but they also provoke one to think about whether everything is as safely in them as it seems? The canvas is a banner that I chose to show some kind of instability. Plastic frames accentuate the feel of an artificially created reality.
