About The Artwork
This is a close-up view of a Volvo heavy duty diesel engine with one new part. Engine compartments are dirty places, so when a part is replaced it is replaced with a clean one, gleaming in contrast. Engines typically turn several pulleys, which run belts, which run other components like fans and compressors. I was attracted to the linear nature of this view. The surface of the engine is busy enough; when you add the many lines and circles, your eye is always travelling around the picture. It is busy as a city.
