It might seem that all of the characters in this painting are having a whale of a time. However, contrary to the above portrayal, it is anger, jealousy, insecurity that is burning within each of them. Two of the couples are caught in a massive confrontation about their respective extra-marital affairs. While the lady in turquoise blue sits in perfect tranquility, sipping a fine glass of Chardonnay and listening to “Strangers in the Night” by none other than Frank Sinatra. This painting has been inspired by the artist’s fondness for various genres of dances such as ballroom dancing being her favorite.
