About The Artwork

"Ora basta" Oil on canvas 50x70 cm. For the creation of this painting I was inspired by a current event: violence against women, almost every day violence, abuse or femicide is announced on the news. The painting depicts a woman trying to defend herself from the man intent on abusing her, as we can see the woman tries to free herself by tearing the hair of the attacker, whose face I decided to hide with her hair. But the man fails to understand him, in fact, he begins to let go of the woman. I painted the background with a warm color that matches the color of the attacker's skin, in such a way as to bring out the light color of the woman. I titled the painting "Enough is Enough!" To say, precisely, enough of this violence and abuse, where in 2023 some people believe they are living in the Middle Ages. I dedicate this work to those women who have been victims of abuse, to those who have lost their lives, to those who live in fear and anxiety, defend your dignity like this woman who tears her hair, say: "Enough is enough !" Or rather, let us men say it too: "Enough is enough!".

Cristian Miceli is an Italian painter, draughtsman and portraitist who lives in Sicily, in Agira in the province of Enna. The passion for Art was born as a child while looking at the works of the great Italian masters in books, with the aim of becoming, one day, like them. He attended the Liceo Artistico Luigi e Mariano Cascio in Enna, there he perfected his skill in drawing and portraiture, maturing a realistic perception of drawing and painting, thus adopting realism as his main style. In the middle of the course he was fascinated by the processing and carving of wood, he decided to follow the course in 'Wood and Furniture Design' of which he graduated in 2020, in order to be able to work as an Interior Designer. He does not abandon, at all, his passion for painting, indeed, from the beginning of 2023 he becomes professional. His subjects range from portraits to still lifes, bodies and landscapes.
