Yu Polch keeps energy under the control and got focused just on the idea of minimalism, where clear originality can be free of the negative stress. Born and based in Kyiv, Ukraine, Yu Polch is a multidisciplinary artist. As an abstract expressionist painter, Polch's canvases bristle with raw energy and emotional power, reflecting his deep connection to the natural world and the human experience. Polch's artistic journey began in his native Kyiv, where he honed his skills in abstract painting and experimental music. His works have been exhibited internationally, garnering acclaim for their bold, dynamic compositions and their ability to evoke visceral responses from viewers and listeners alike. Through his multifaceted artistic expression, Polch aims to transcend the boundaries of traditional media, inviting his audience to embark on a sensory-rich voyage of discovery. Yu Polch's artistic sensibilities have been profoundly shaped by the rich cultural heritage and turbulent history of his native Ukraine. Growing up against the backdrop of political upheaval and social transformation, Polch's work reflects a deep-seated fascination with the raw, unvarnished aspects of the human experience. As an abstract expressionist, Polch draws inspiration from the bold, emotive canvases of mid-20th century American masters like Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Hans Hofmann as well abstract Ukrainian masters as Kandinsky. However, he imbues their gestural, spontaneous approach with a distinctly Ukrainian flavor, infusing his paintings with earthy, elemental hues and a sense of primal, untamed energy. VISUAL STYLE Ultimately, Yu Polch's unique artistic voice emerges from the synthesis of his diverse creative passions and his deep-rooted connection to the cultural and historical tapestry of Ukraine. His works serve as a bridge between the ancient and the contemporary, the intuitive and the intellectual, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a world of raw, emotive expression. STATEMENT I live all my life with Abstract Art under my skin and deeply enjoy to the fact my grand grand grandfather was the official painter at Ortodox Church. I have got still his old b&w photo, where he sits during the painting with easel. I'm Ukrainian and was born in Kiev in 1959, USSR, and now live in Kyiv, Ukraine. I started to paint early and decision to go to a local Children Art School was taken solely by me. Later, I graduated after Kyiv Polytechnical Institute and took 5 year classes on Jazz Guitar at Music School. In 90's I jammed as guitarist around Kyiv city Art Galleries with my free jazz trio.
