"Orange" you glad it's a tulip Painting

I was introduced to & we have been in a relationship ever since! What do I like most about you ask? Well ... It's simplicity of course, and all those complex layers it hides so there's more than meets the eye! It's also a story of adaptability - how the simple flower found its way from turkey and made it's home in the Netherlands and has since then been thriving in it's new found home; so much so that very few of us actually consider it anything but a classic Dutch symbol. What happened next you ask? We have been creating medleys ever since 😇 The idea was to represent a single flower all it's elements - the petals, the folds, the stem and the little details on the stem that pop against a black background. Oil paint and impasto strokes continue to be my favorite materials & techniques to render texture and depth - if you look closely, you can feel like touching the painting as it were a real flower (so I've told by various viewers who gave me feedback :-) !) Most importantly, it is a simple piece - can be set up with additional single pieces in the series, which I will be updating as and when they are completed.
