Bergelin open up his coat, uncovers his naked torso; opens it all the way, not stopping until he´s reached his innermost thoughts and true believes. What you see and feel relates directly to intimate life defining questions that are there constantly in our minds, wheter we want them to be or not. ”For life a death” could be one of many headlines for the monoprint pictures. ”Your life is my life” could be another. And the more you observe the pictures the clearer you see the message of love, one after the other. Finally you see that all of his pictures are a tribute to life in it´s ultimate state-when we human beings feel as free as we possibly are capable of, without imposing any limits on one another.

Johan Bergelin, born in 1969. Have developed himself as an artist for over 35 years. His archive includes over 1000 works on various mediums like photography, paper, canvas, wood and pvc. 10 selected works will be available for sale at Saatchiart.com ranging from large scale canvas work, pvc and wood paintings, pastel drawings and photography. Bergelin's preferred technique, automatism, using simple, primitive lines and holding the pastels, pencils or brushes very gently. The picture's effect is a kind of "romantic symbolism". The more you observe the pictures the clearer you see the message of love. Finally you see that all are tributes to life in its ultimate state. A unconscious and very immediate way of creating pictures. With references from the streets but also both from Cobra and Artbrut movements. Colour references are often from the Fauvism, often with strong purple, red, black, yellow red shades. As an outsider, Bergelin have had no contact with the mainstream world of art or art institutions.
