Inspired by Homer's description of, "the wine-dark sea," I set out to see what that might look like. As this image progressed, it developed a void that needed to be filled and the color that was calling to me from that void was Orange. Hence the title, "Orange." This image was created using artist-constructed large brushes to create the sweeping, windy landscape you now see. It's painted in a series of thin, translucent layers of oil paint in a combination of brushed and wiped paint effects.
