About The Artwork

This work was part of my solo exhibition on the "Symbols of Asia", where I have used several symbols from different Asian cultures that have inspired me through out my journey in South-East Asia where I have lived for the past 13 years. In this painting, I was inspired by the Japanese origami cranes that are used as a symbol of peace around Japan. The painting is made out of cut out canvas pieces, that have been printed with Japanese inspired prints. The back of each cut out has been sprayed in gold paint. Each cut out has been then glued to the main canvas, creating a 3 dimensional origami crane, with shadows that shifts with the change in lights around the painting. This is to create an illusion of a moving crane. on the low right side of the painting are silhouettes of little kids pulling on the crane making it fly. This painting is a burst of colors and positive vibes.
