About The Artwork
As a child from a single parent home, with friends also from single parent homes, we often had to make our own toys using found objects. My best friend and I built entire mansions for our dolls using cardboard, wallpaper swatches, even shoulder pads removed from our mothers blouses. In the spirit of childhood ingenuity, this painting represents the ability to make something magical out of very little. A tear in the canvas on the upper-left is stitched together using multiple colors of thread, in the tradition of embracing imperfection.
