About The Artwork
This piece was inspired by the patterns of wrought iron railings, using outliner, bleach discharge, dye and embroidery on tea bags. The work was started on the reverse and dyed, then turned over and finalised on the front. The result is a delightful effect, with elements of the reverse seen in the background. The added triangular shape represents a shaft of sunlight and was carefully and meticulously cut from used tea bags and pasted on, completing the work. Tea bags give rich colours and texture when dyed.
