About The Artwork

When I paint, I am always looking for the balance between precise lines and spontaneous brushstrokes. I oscillate between the desire to master the drawing and the desire to let go. The portrait allows me to share an emotion with the viewer. I want him to stop and feel a look, a question, a judgment, a surprise on him ... These portraits are most often women. It allows me to identify myself. There is a bit of me in each one. Abstraction, on the other hand, represents thought. Each brushstroke is a thought. Thoughts are fickle, free, without any order and yet, united, they form a coherent universe. On this canvas, the movement of abstract shapes, the hair, came to me as obvious. Thoughts fly away. She looks at us without seeing us, lost in the meanders of her reflections. I use acrylic because it allows me to paint quickly and accept mistakes. Acrylic dries so quickly that after applying a brush stroke remains. Oil painting tends to lead me towards a search for perfection, acrylics towards emotion.

French artist living near Paris Drawing and painting have always been with me as well as the certainty that my thoughts, too numerous, had to be laid on the canvas to encumber me a little less. I recently discovered that my brain does not work like everyone else: I am "aphantasy". My brain is blind. It was the revelation: this is why I have always had to paint and draw, I have to make visible what my blind brain cannot show me. I don't visualize any apple, but I can create it.
