This painting was featured on Saatchi Instagram as a beautiful example of modern impressionism by Saatchi Chief Art Curator Rebecca Wilson. Additional honors: juried into the "Drawn to Water" Exhibition at the McCord Gallery Palos Park Illinois and was given an award of Merit at the Naperville Art League, as well as featured on their FB page. In Italy, I was entranced by the beautiful palazzo gardens. Reflections of cypress trees in a palazzo's pond inspired me. Cypress trees, with their deep green spires, converge with my artistic style of textured fragmented color. Water movement shatters the reflections so I apply multiple layers of paint colors with my palette knife. Lots of gorgeous texture and visible brushstrokes reminiscent of Claude Monet's "Waterlilies" Autumnal waterlilies float on the surface of the pond, adding warm orange and pink to contrast against the cool blues of the water. A reflection of the Palazzo is visible in the upper right of the painting. This painting is on stretched heavy weight archival cotton canvas. This painting is custom framed in a high-quality silver leaf wood floater frame, which allows the entire painting to be visible and enjoyed. Final framed dimensions: 17.625" high x 21.625" wide by 2" deep. (See additional artwork images)

After years as a medical artist producing anatomical illustrations, I am now a fine artist. I create sensitively nuanced paintings and drawings in a semi-abstract, semi-realistic style with vivid unexpected color. My paintings celebrate subtle shifts in light and emotion often overlooked in our busy lives. I do not follow art trends, nor a singular style because I am constantly experimenting. I feel experimentation is essential to my creativity. This way my paintings are unique and one of a kind. Raised in New Jersey, I live near Chicago.
