About The Artwork
A picture from this past summer in Courmayeur inspired this painting. I have my two boys on the side of the picture, and you see some people going in the classic afternoon walk or 'passegiata' through Via Roma, the main avenue in the sophisticated town of Courmayeur. I've used Pastelmat paper with Sennelier, Unison Colour pastels and Caran d'Ache and Faber Castell's Pitt Pastel Pencils. I love the colours of the buildings in Italy, and how pretty all looks, even if some buildings are dilapidated. This is the second painting of the same Avenue.

I am a new artist, pretty much self-taught, with some formal learning at the Blackheath Conservatoire with Simone Willems, now taking another course at the Conservatoire to use as studio time. I've fallen in love with pastels and charcoal, as I find them easy materials to express in paintings. I love the mountains, and want to reflect them in my drawings.
