Path of Light/ Shield Series Painting

Shield Series I created the “Shield” series for self protection. Protection for my heart. The symbol or shape of a shield is represented in the paintings, all in different variations. The “Shield” energetically protects me from the negative energy that can arise even between those we care about the most. I envision multiple “cords” of energy that flow fluidly with people with whom I have a spiritual connection. These energy connections replenish me and manifest a higher level of learning and understanding. I have learned that sometimes the flow must be interrupted or it will diminish my possibilities because it is not my “work” to do but theirs. These cords are thin lines of pumice in each of these paintings that are cut or stopped from continuing. I am learning to discern that which is unhealthy for my evolution. It is not to make others wrong, for that may be their work. It is just to consciously guide myself to my best self, even if it means cutting cords that have been in place for years. The “Shield” acts as a filter of strength and the power to know. The painterly background represent the things that surround each one of us...Life consists of good and bad, swirling around as it confronts my filters. I cannot control others but can choose, in many cases, to be around that which is most healthy to me. The white in the paintings represents the white light that flows thru us. White lights can be called upon by anyone for assistance, healing and protecting from negative energies. It is not visible, but it can be sensed viscerally. We all have the white light, it is creating the access to it through conscious effort... that is the opportunity. I visualize it as a column of light streaming down within each of us. These are textured paintings. I use texture such as pumice, gels for glazing and pastes, each adding a diffferent layer of feeling just as we are made up of so many complex thoughts. Relationships with those we love are complicated and require different layers of each of us. A dedicated effort toward spiritual growth evolves into an automatic shield and also keeps one vibrant and strong. When we relate to Light in our lives, as I do, and are aware of its presence in our system, this light itself acts as a shield...protection, guiding, enveloping and nurturing
