Peasant dance after Rubens Painting

The painter dances to the sound of Rubens, yes, because all painting is sound… synesthesia. This work is part of the series of pictorial conversations with some great masters of the history of painting, in this case the guest is Peter Paul Rubens through the painting Dance of the Peasants, painted around 1636. In this series the work of the great masters serves as a structural reference for my painting serves as a starting point but not a final destination, as process, experimentation and discovery guide the work towards a completely different result from the original work without abandoning it completely. I thus establish a pictorial-plastic dialogue that updates the spirit of the original work today. It is also a tribute to some of the great masters in the history of Western painting, without being a reinterpretation at all.
