About The Artwork
This large painting was inspired by the Flow Country in the North of Scotland where peatland is a natural resource, storing carbon and enabling the world to breathe. I spent several days in the area, studying the landscape, taking photographs and drawing. I tried to capture the wetness, the fresh damp smell and the sense of deepness and mystery. It was a major source of heat for people who lived in the area and consists of thousands of generations of organic matter. To me it symbolises a magical sense of timelessness, the painting is soft and has waxy overtones and would be a stunning addition for home or a business.
