I am an artist and a designer. I am always aware of the phenomenology of perception: light, space, time, form… Visual perception takes place in a state of constant movement — even in stillness there is motion. Just as light changes by the moment, we are in a state of change and everything we see is fluid, active, moving. Observing, seeing, and remembering — these allow me to physically mark what I perceive. When I observe, memory plays a critical role. The experience of seeing creates visual memories that are impressed upon my mind. These are more than fleeting moments. Rather, they form a scene, a composition of shifting light, moving form, interactions of color, dimension, edges, space, texture, temperature, density, sound, surface, depth, and more. Tim Tait was born in Huntington, NY in 1963. Currently Tim Tait is Vice President at Malcolm Grear Designers in Providence, RI. From 1994 – 99 he worked with Jean Brunel as a Designer and Production Manager in NYC. He had his own art & design studio from 1991 – 94. He was an Associate Designer and Vice President for architect/designer/artist Gaetano Pesce from 1989 – 91. He also worked as a Preparator and Gallery Assistant for the Bernice Steinbaum Gallery in Soho, NYC from 1985 – 88 and with The Rotunda Gallery, Brooklyn, NY from 1985 – 86.
