The painting called "Penelope" belongs to the collection of portraits inspired by different faces of mannequins or dummies, and in the line of work based on the reflection on the imperfection of invented beauty, the electromechanical profile of current and future society, as well as the implicit violence and aesthetic seduction of current stereotypes based on ugliness and meaninglessness. "Penelope" emerges from a world of mannequins and dummies, an exploration in which idealized beauty meets imperfection. The artist dives into the electromechanical profile of our modern and future society, unraveling the implicit violence and aesthetic appeal that underlies current stereotypes based on peculiarity and absurdity. When contemplating "Penelope", the viewer is invited to a journey through the distorted mirror of beauty and ugliness, where boundaries are blurred. The work awakens reflection on the imposed standards of beauty and questions the relentless pursuit of perfection in a society guided by stereotypes. It is as if each stroke reveals the paradox of beauty and the absurd dance between acceptance and rejection of what is different.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and resident in Spain since the 80s. His studio is located in Madrid, where he has been working since then in different areas of visual arts, contemporary art, and illustration. He studied visual communication, advertising, scenery, and fine arts. He has worked with various publishers and magazines as an illustrator. He has exhibited work in various cities such as Buenos Aires, Madrid, Leon, Malaga, Toulouse, and New York. In recent years he has been working on different series of paintings, between figuration and abstraction, with the main sources of inspiration: mythology, dreams, landscape, and nature in general. In the captivating work of Carlos Villanueva, artistic expression comes to life through a humanist neofiguration that evokes deep and universal emotions. With an expressive technique that uses the palette knife and drag rule, as well as the influence of Pop Art, the artist achieves a masterful balance between figure and background, creating abstract compositions that explore the complexity of the human experience. The human figure, represented with sensitivity and passion, becomes the center of his visual narratives. Each gesture and expression captures the essence of the human condition, inviting the viewer to contemplate the full range of emotions and experiences that define our existence.
