This work is part of a series inspired by a walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal in Bristol. My art practice is a combined love affair with concrete structures, usually observed during a journey of some kind, the environmental effects on its surface and what happens afterwards in the studio. In particular, I am mesmerised by buildings and architecture of the Brutalist period, and its existence within the landscape. My primary goal is not to replicate anything I am inpsired by, but to allow it to be part of the total experience, hence, the importance of the journey. The act of travelling or passing through makes it more fleeting and as though it is glimpsed rather than studied. Previous work has been inspired by Malaysian concrete walls, etched by the bright coloured sediment, collected by the rain on its journey through the surrounding rainforest.

United Kingdom
I live and work surrounded by England at its finest. In summer there are views of fields full of swaying barley from one window and galloping horses and grazing sheep from another. A sunrise that even I wake for comes from the east and biblical sunsets from the west. An avenue of ancient gnarled oak trees leads to my studio, but as walk amongst these magnificent wise beings, and touch their cragged lines of bark, I know that we have so much to learn if only we could speak the same language. My practice explores connections within nature, the universe and mankind.
