Pied Oystercatcher 3 Painting

Pied Oystercatchers are relatively sedentary and common in southern Australia in suitable coastal habitat. Conspicuous birds through there smart black and white plumage and sturdy red bills and legs. Attractive piping cry especially in flight. Their names derives from their habit of prising molluscs open in wet sand. I have been a keen birdwatcher since a young lad in England and now paint those I have seen in Australia. I use archival quality watercolour paints and heavy paper. I include framing suggestions with each painting sold - detailed enough to just give to your framer if you wish. My paintings are accurate portraits of the birds I have seen and I try to portray something of their character.
