About The Artwork
Pink protea and Red delicious apple is part of my small classical still life series, focusing on capturing objects on low key dark background like in those classical paintings by the old master. I love the colour combination in this painting. They look contrast but playfully compliment each other. The butterfly helps balance the composition and adds the liveliness to the image. A lovely small painting to add to any room/space to bring you joy with a sense of tranquility.

"My work explores the beauty of still life from objects and things around my life. I am inspired by the classical still life paintings especially from the Dutch and Flemish masters. My work often incorporates symbolic objects depicting the beauty of stillness, memory and transience. My concept is to create “Beauty” through the use of colour and composition that provokes thoughts on cultures, philosophies, place and time. Much of my work uses balanced composition with a sense of tranquillity. I am also inspired by the beauty of nature and flowers are one of my favourite subjects to paint. My painting style is realism and I paint predominantly in oil using traditional technique."
