About The Artwork

My inspiration for this piece was having fun with shapes and sizes as well as basic colors and their pleasing pastel gradation. I hope that the person perusing this work will enjoy the color perspective used to create depth and a smattering of 3-D quality that will bring a fresh viewpoint each day to deal with the perplexing patterns of life that can dominate ones thinking. I selected this medium of acrylic on canvas because one must have a good idea or a sketch that can be used to create your original as acrylic doesn't allow much manipulation. As far as subject goes I saw a picture of an ancient Mayan artifact that motivated me to modify it somewhat and honor this culture of the past. The style of this effort is a light, pleasing, airy approach designed to respond to effective lighting.

I chose Art as my Major at Palm Beach Junior College where I graduated with an AA Fine Art Degree in 1958 studying under the direction of Nina K. Jensen. I also spent two years of study and practice with a correspondence course from Famous Artist school in Westport, Connecticut in 1959. For the next 27 years several major business firms employed me as a Technical Illustrator, Electrical/Mechanical Draftsman , Designer and Layout Draftsman I have worked with Oil paint, watercolor, acrylic paint, pastels, charcoal, pen and ink mediums in the past and I am presently working with collage or assemblage sculpture using plated materials, woods, plastics, minerals, gemstones (semi-precious), glass and ceramic. I have had sculpture exhibitions in Santa Fe, Taos and Questa, New Mexico Georgia, Florida and Arizona.
