In line with my Chop Life series, this piece intends to bring attention to the concept of freedom - living life on your own terms. The subjects in my work have been women of African descent and this is where my life as a black woman corresponds with my work as an artist. Although, in recent times, I have developed a new skin work technique that allows non-black women to resonate with my work which gives me great joy as whatever message I am conveying is always meant for all women & not just people who look like me. This, for me, is growth. Aside - it took me 18 months to complete this piece. Painting is a 1 of 1 oil and acrylic on canvas. Will be shipped safely rolled in a tube. Buyer may reach out to me for shots of me working on this painting, if interested.
