On my chest? Or maybe on rocks? I engraved my childhood in Kremat, I hid between the alleys, I looked into the eyes of women; My heart was young,And fresh, like an orange. I don’t know if I had ever loved you . . .Or any of the others! I saw you a thousand times, I saw you yesterday, and a long while ago. I saw you take nothing, and steal everything! Once you were Sumerian,In an era that knew no history. You were Babylonian,In a period that knew no love! Walls hid our saga, Nights had overheard what had happened! You, daughter of the Mesopotamia; What dream are you awaiting? Badr had passed away, Yet, the rain is still pouring. Sumer, Babylon, and Uruk have fallen, And still, you are the daughter of them all! Behind your fence, There was a war,Terror, and a tornado, Dark sadness,And vultures Hovering the dead. Come . . . touch me, part by part. Come . . . touch my decayed bones.
