POLAR SON Painting

Oil painting on canvas: Polar Son was inspired while watching an old film of Walt Disney's nature documentary. Have a fascination for eyes, painting them in such a way to draw in and capture the viewer and linger there, the windows of the soul. I often start a painting with an undercoat in acrylic sketching my base colors and subject. Then start in with my oils where I can bring out the vibrance and detail of the bear. Here I choose the vibrant colors of red orange and yellows as my background in an abstract whirl of color that I find contrasts beautifully with the white colored fur of the polar bear. Abstract meets Realism the two opposites harmonize well and that is where my journey in art is taking me at present. An ever fascinating world of art nature and color. Love using Acrylics to start with as they dry fast, are a great base for my oils, vibrancy, transparencies of oils the wonderful feel of how they are on brush or palate knife is why I love to paint in oils. ( this painting is framed with a simple wood box frame so that it can be hung or changed easily. )
