About The Artwork

A large original mineral painting, made with 24k gold, crushed minerals (natural and synthetic), crushed seashells and gold-coated mica on Japanese paper mounted on a wood panel. Natural colors include precious and semi-precious stones such as gold and azurite (deep ocean blue). Because these substances consist of unique chemical and physical properties, every artwork has its own story to tell and embodies a sense of connection to the earth. It is highly textured with a matt and rich sand-like appearance. This painting was selected by the jury of the world’s oldest public exhibition, Le Salon Société des Artistes Français, for the Art Capital show in Paris 2022. Since 1667, great historical artists such as Manet, Cézanne, Rodin, and Delacroix showcased their artwork at Le Salon and be recognized by the world. In mint condition, Certificate of Authenticity included and calligraphy seal in front, hand-signed at the back. Sold unframed and ready to hang (eye bolt and string mounted at the back). Artist: Maria Mitsumori Style: Mineral painting Size: H65 x W100 × D3cm (25.6 x 39.37 x 1.19 in) Year: 2021

Mitsumori works in the traditional Japanese art form of mineral painting. She lived and studied at international boarding schools in Switzerland and Hong Kong for 15 years before returning to Japan. Her global upbringing and Japanese roots heavily influence how she sees the world and inform the thematic tendencies in her work, most notably in the ideas of transcending borders and coexisting diversity. Mitsumori considers painting as a tangible way to preserve the abstract, drawing upon the early use of mineral painting as a form of preservation. Creating and showcasing artworks nationally and internationally, Mitsumori has exhibited in London, Dubai, Paris, Singapore, and Tokyo. Her multiple award-winning work has been featured in international exhibitions and is part of public collections.
