About The Artwork

When the Sistine Chapel paintings were cleaned, various reports in the media described the bright colors revealed under the centuries-old dirt. That was very exciting to me, as people sometimes think the dull colors are what old paintings are painted with in the first place. But in fact the original colors were luminous and beautiful. I've always liked classical religious icons, although not from a religious feeling but from an appreciation of their beauty and the skill with which they were completed.
