About The Artwork
Portrait of Millicent Rogers. A Taos, NM socialite, fashion icon, and art collector - February 1, 1902 - January 1, 1953 (As in Millicent Rogers Museum in Taos, NM) The portrait is composed based on available historical b/w photos, depicting her beloved three cultures of New Mexico: Native American Indians, see the Taos Pueblo painting top left and her bracelets (They are images of her real jewelry collaged onto the painting) - The Hispanic as in the small Retablo of Our Lady of Guadalupe bottom left and finally the anglo influence represented by her wearing her own jewelry designs in sterling silver. Media: acrylic and black India ink varnish washes. It is painted on a 1/4" panel with a 3/4" wood structure on the back that floats the panel elegantly away from the wall. Ready to hang. No framing required. It can easily be framed.
