Portrait of Lord Byron Painting

Portrait in impasto oils of the beloved/notorious British poet Lord Byron, darling and dark horse of the Romantic era. I produced this work as part of a series of figures connected to the city of Cambridge, my hometown, after a contemporaneous portrait by Richard Westall. I hope the rich contrasting colours and expressive brushwork give a suitably modern update. The painting is on canvas board rather than a stretched wooden frame. This means it will fit in the average shop-bought frame and doesn't necessarily require a professional fitting.
