The sky from own front porch can dazzle like the most fabled of locations. I love how the sci-fi look of modern electrical equipment seemed to power the beauty of the sky, or perhaps it was the charged particles still drifting in the air from the volcano eruption in Tonga. However it happened, the sky that evening was a glistening jewell I've tried to do justice to. Painted in acrylic, watercolour, crayon and wax on Italian watercolour paper gel-mounted to oak-cradled marine plywood panel, professionally finished with isolation coats and gloss varnish. The painting continues around the edges, so framing is optional. About the surface and panel: Works on panel are more durable and long lasting than works on canvas — many made in the Middle Ages and Renaissance are still admired today. This is a hand-crafted panel made of Tasmanian-hardwood cradled (braced) marine-grade plywood, and sealed on all sides with multiple coats of acrylic varnish. Italian Fabriano 100% cotton watercolour paper is then mounted with acrylic gel to provide an archival surface protected from the wood.

I treasure the hidden beauty of the roadsides and paths, the swamps and streams, the expanses of sky, and the intimate little corners many people just drive past.
