About The Artwork

Here a voluptuous young woman snaps a picture of herself in the mirror, kneeling on the floor of her bedroom. Highly sexualized, the original image (without the bunny mask) has over a thousand “likes” on instagram. I added the bunny mask because I felt she was too exposed, too vulnerable. I wanted to keep her safe by giving her anonymity. I was uncomfortable with her willingness to display her body, the vulnerability I would feel displaying my body in that way. I chose a bunny not only because of the obvious reference to playboy, but also because rabbits are such passive, soft, and vulnerable animals; prey of all predators.
