In the Netherlands, all children from 4 years old go every month to see an original exhibition outside the museums. Pat Dumez made these 4 portraits "Les Mélusines" as part of a group exhibition devoted to tales and legends in the large library of Dordrecht. NL
These Portraits of Princesses tell a story, the legend of Melusine.
Four paintings to tell us about the different states of mind she is going through. We see here not the myth but the expression of a moment of the character of Mélusine.
The legend comes from Jean d'Arras, in the 14th century.
Coming from Albania to Poitou, she met and married Raymondin de Lusignan, with whom she had ten children.
She is credited with building powers such as the construction of the castles of Lusignan and Vouvant, the towers of La Rochelle and the abbey of Maillezais. But betrayed by her husband, she will flee after the discovery of her secret.
