Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

To create a series of works entitled "Provincial Grandees," the author has benefited from
the research archives of the ethnographer and historian Viktor Svyatelyk, works by the famous
artists Napoleon Orda, Johann Lampi, Eugene Berthier, Jan Simon, Henry Hollpein,
Jan Matejko, and studied a number of works by unknown artists, artifacts, photographs,
showpieces in the museums of local lore, art works by outstanding writers. Lots of drafts
and sketches have been made in different time periods and in a variety of compositional
solutions. Many of this series topics are being played in graphic sheets and made in the
chaotic stroke technique (ink, pen). А series of easel works has been produced: "Khoroshe
Park", "My name – Sofia", "Exit", "Autumn in the Tulchyn Park", "Echoes of the Past", "Moonlit
Night" and others.
By creating reconstruction-pictures Hryhorii Zoryk is keen to convey the grand and unique
history of the Ukrainian Podillya, to both current and future viewers to pay tribute to the
people who have been creating it. By the means of his works the artist is referring to the coevals
who ought to save the rich heritage and breathe a new life into the Tulchyn Versailles.
