About The Artwork

As I have mentioned in other artworks, I like to describe this painting of my work as a “Human Landscape”, in which I try to picture a dramatic composition that shows the human deterioration. That is man’s fate.   "Prosthesis, Study 20" shows the implant of this object already perpetrated in a human body and invites the re-creator to witness this reality.   The size of the painting (medium format) intends to achieve a visual impact, an aesthetical experience in the re-creator. Oil on canvas is the medium I used in this work, coated with double gesso layer. I will deliver the artwork rolled in a tube, protected with a non-acid cloth and glassy paper, among other materials that guarantee a safe trip. The canvas considers safety areas for the frame (2 or 3 inches per side). The artwork has its Certificate of Authenticity.

Welcome to my online art studio! My name is Veronica Huacuja (wu-a-koo-ha). I am a professional plastic artist and an experienced online art teacher. ART INTERESTS The art interests that call my attention are diverse, such as sickness, pathological behaviour, forensics. Because of the different subjects I'm interested in, I've classified my work in collections. This helps me understand it in a better way. It also helps the re-creator to understand it, to invite or produce in him/her a state of mind that assists him in penetrating the work's creation circle. COLLECTIONS In my "Portraits" collection, I work with special characters in borderline situations. This means that the pieces are dramatic and in most of them I try to grasp their “exasperated beauty”. (1) These criteria apply as well to a new collection I entitled "Women", in which I interpret and portray historical females; some renowned characters, others are anonymous, but all of their biographies called my attention as an artist and as a woman. I treat most of these creations with drama. In my "Art and Radiology" collection–Period I and Period II–, the man and its precarious condition (temporality, decay, fragility...) is the central topic of my work. Some initial sources I use are radiological medical studies done to sick, genderless, anonymous persons. I like to call the results of my work as “Human Landscapes”. By this category, I mean to explore the carnal material that makes us human. I've divided this collection into two periods of my production: “Period I” goes from 2000 to 2003, and “Period II” gathers artwork I have created from 2015 up to date. I added a new collection, "The Relentless", where I picture people that have social malfunctions and disorders that drive them to commit crime. The tragedy of their lives and their cross paths in the lives of others are elements that impulse me to create this series. In this collection I include as well, the “manhunters”, which are the law enforcement professionals that pursue these dangerous outlaws. I think they are too relentless. So, those who fight “monsters” are also part of this collection. One thing I’d like to add is that my work isn’t an apology for crime. It’s my interpretation of a social phenomenon. In 2022, I debuted a new collection, entitled "Sculptures". The collection delves into the biographies of anonymous characters-both male and female–.
