PROVINCES 3 Painting

"The PROVINCES Series began in 2019 and while limited, has never left my mind. It is a collection of abstract landscapes depicting fictional rural territories and countrysides of varying terrain. I suppose it is similar to the imagined WHERE THE LEMON TREES BLOOM, but I consider that I am building and arranging architectural components, not the natural environment. Straight lines of walls and roofs are juxtaposed to blur each structure. As is true of most of my work, the eye finds a way to read and make sense of the arranged shapes." - Kim McAninch " Kim McAninch has created an imagined, cascading landscape centered in architecture in this very large vertical painting. This painting is unique as her palette is bright, nearing fluorescent transitioning to a high contrast, black. The complex layering of pastel, pencil , acrylic and oil gives texture and the energy found in all of her work.
