"Purity" is an offshoot of my raku series and incorporates my love of raku pottery, my fascination of Japanese Kanji symbols, and my passion in woodworking. I use acrylic texture that resembles raku pottery, thin pieces of wood to form parts of Kanji symbols, and deeply saturated color. The Japanese kanji character in this piece means “without poison”. This symbol is used by athletes, the straight edge subculture, and others who live a drug free life, and was my inspiration for this piece. The painting is on 40” x 16" x 1.5" museum-quality gallery wrapped canvas and is wired and ready to hang. The red in this piece is gorgeous!
