This is diptych is on gallery wrap canvases. The title, imagery and lyrics are all inspired by a song of the same name by my favorite artist: Julian Casablancas’, “2nd” band, a much weirder, less mainstream punk rock metal prog amalgamation called The Voidz. He has gotten much more political over the past several years and those ideas have naturally carried over into the music. I played the album ‘Virtue’, in which PoB appears as the third track pretty much on repeat while working on this piece over about 10 days. The quote “they play the game by different rules insisting it’s all equal” is my favorite lyric on the song and possibly the whole album and was the original inspiration for the entire painting. “Power is for sale” is a live quote from a different song and different band all together - The Strokes, but naturally it fit within the context of the subject matter. The face on the left is a frequently recurring image that could be considered a self-portrait, only because I often include the 3/4 gauges in my ear. The wide-eyed, open mouth figure reacting to the atrocities being mentioned in the song/painting.

Main goal: I’m just trying to make dope art. 2nd goal: And hopefully one day make a living off it. Ive always been artistic. I just didn’t know you could be an artist as a job. I always liked to draw. My school papers had more drawings, sketches and scribbles than correct answers. I started writing poems/songs around 13/14ish. I tried writing novels and comics with my brother Ryan in junior high. Beginning of 10th grade I began taking a 3 hour Drafting & Design extra-curriculum class 5 days a week until I graduated high school, realizing although I love, appreciate and have a passion for architecture - it’s not a career for me. The summer of 2001 is really where it all culminated - a friend showed me his graffiti, how to make stencils, etc. I made my first stencil and used a can a spray paint on a few utility boxes, and haven’t put it down since. self-taught. outsider. painter. writer. singer. director. editor. email me for inquiries about the rest of my portfolio. or prices. thescenerymediacentre@gmail.com
