About The Artwork

Rain Down on Me is from my premiere series, Awakening, and represents another exploration of how I define myself as an emerging artist. The painting was more directly inspired by emotion and is deeply personal, unlike the other abstract paintings in the series. Rain Down on Me was directly inspired by the famous smooth jazz song by the same name and by my desire to explore beautiful color together with bronze metallics. It portrays rainfall on a window and invites the viewer to a private place to feel their own, deepest emotions.

Susan Goins is a contemporary artist who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Self-taught, Susan returned to her passion for art in retirement from a successful business career and launched her next journey as a large-scale abstract artist. Drawing influence from trends of minimalist home decor and the Zen wellness culture, she strives to create works that provide calm and quiet beauty to living spaces. Commenced in 2022, Awakening is Susan's premiere series, achieving gallery representation for her debut work, "Sugocha." Each work in the series represents a facet of rediscovering her creative personal power as an emerging artist. The monochromatic works with muted tonal variations provide a place of repose in the living space. Contrasting areas invite a more personal, up close visual participation in their movement and suggestion of rich, subsurface textures. "I enjoy abstract painting for its spontaneity and ability to push the creative psyche beyond controlled planning - by the sheer dimensions of the work - to the excitement of the creative moment, the liberation of self." - Susan Goins
