About The Artwork

The photo I stumbled upon held an allure that was undeniable, an invitation into a world where the sea and the sky collided in a mesmerizing embrace of colors. Waves of turquoise and indigo danced beneath a sky ablaze with a stunning array of hues, from the softest pastels to the most vibrant crimsons. It was a scene that felt otherworldly yet comforting, like a dream dipped in reality. As I gazed at that photograph, a surge of inspiration washed over me. It wasn't just the visual spectacle that moved me; it was the emotions it evoked. The sea, vast and boundless, seemed to echo with whispers of stories untold. The rainbow colors that adorned its surface weren't just a trick of light; they were a celebration of life's kaleidoscope, a reminder that even amid the storms, beauty could emerge. With a canvas before me, I felt a connection to that captured moment, a yearning to translate its essence onto the blank space. Each brushstroke was a deliberate choice, a careful dance between the hues on my palette and the emotions that swelled within me. The sea's rhythm seemed to synchronize with the strokes of my brush, each movement a tribute to the waves' eternal journey. The rainbow colors took on a life of their own as they mingled and merged, weaving tales of resilience and hope. I painted with a passion that went beyond technique; it was a conversation between my soul and the canvas, a communion of artistry and emotion. The photograph had set the stage, but it was my interpretation that brought the scene to life in a new, deeply personal way. With each stroke, the sea and its rainbow colors became a mirror to my own experiences – the highs and lows, the moments of joy and the storms weathered. As I stepped back to survey the painting that had emerged, I realized that I had not merely replicated an image; I had channeled my response to it. The photograph had sparked a journey of expression, allowing me to share my interpretation of its magic with the world.

I am a self-taught artist who has done the eight levels of the Royal Drawing Society of London at the school level. From childhood, I was fascinated by the play of colours in nature, and I have come to love all its moods and find it an infinite source of happiness. I was fortunate enough to have travelled all across the sub Himalayan region, and forest areas and later on visited the coastal areas of my country as well as those of Australia. As a homemaker, I spent my life in isolated forested areas where my husband worked as a coal mining engineer. Unable to pursue my education in Fine Arts, I tried the difficult frustrating and lengthy process of learning from books and mostly these were the series of books written by Walter Foster. I could only pursue it as a hobby, till the Covid pandemic scare came a couple of years ago, as we were all forced to be cooped up in isolation I returned to my favourite hobby painting and I started putting in six hours daily. I joined the Serb group of Artist Phil Davis and followed the daily prompts to submit a painting and made efforts to project the prompt as landscapes For example the title “treat” was translated into a desert landscape with blooming flowers as “treat for the eyes of the beholder. My inspiration to paint comes from 1. My love for Nature, 2. While being cooped up during the pandemic was the only way to explore and relive moments spent with family. 3. It has garnered a great deal of self-respect as at 75 years of age I can contribute to society. 4. Through sales I may be able to generate enough income to help the needy.
