Melissa Bee. Painter in Denver, CO I've been drawing obsessively since I was small. I would sit in the back of the classroom and get into trouble with the nuns for drawing instead of paying attention. I started painting soon after. My weapon of choice is my pallet knife, I love to apply the paint in thick layers, creating textures, shapes and create chaotic mark-making. My subject matter ranges from animals to people to non-objective abstraction. My inspirations include art by children, folk art, craft art, children's book illustration and the Abstract Expressionist Painters. Joan Mitchell, Willem De Kooning, Pierre Bonnard, and Chaim Soutine are my favorite painters. I am currently a member artist at the Kanon Collective Art Gallery, 766 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO.
