About The Artwork

Red Flower was inspired by the wildfires of California. The painting is a dark reality for those who have been affected by the darkness of a natural disaster, the loss, and the aftermath. I chose a dark hue of spray paint to represent the darkness of this reality, the ink running in multiple colors to represent all the people, despite the cultural differences who have all felt a common pain and oil and warmth to bring the true face of fire, which is dark and dangerous forward even though its dangers hide behind such beautiful hues and flames.

About me... Hmm... well, I guess I have the heart of a child who grew up in the forests of Oregon in a 5'2 adult female body with an outer layer of tough alligator skin which you gain while growing up in Las Vegas from the early teens into adulthood. Growing up the youngest of three usually benefits kids as they learn from their sibling's mistakes. I could see how this would be true to most however, I'm pretty sure my siblings followed the moral & behavioral codes of both Captain America and A Golden Retriever. My parents will absolutely say that I caused them the most worry however if you were to learn why, my father will later admit it is because I am 100% my fathers daughter, therefore, my actions were a direct reminder of how my father was growing up. Nowadays when I speak, I hear my mother in about 80% of things which I say and do. All still with the heart of a child or with the heart of my father. I was engulfed in the outdoors as a kid along with books, music & art which I can confidently & honestly say that I one of the things I am most upset about getting rid of as I got older was a shirt I had which had a unicorn on it but with the face of Bob Ross. The shirt read: "Bob Ross is the most majestic creature I know" I believed that statement to be true then and still do as I write this. Bob Ross was indeed my afterschool special, as a kid fell very ill, so as other kids were playing sports after school and playing competitive games -- I was learning how to obtain depth perception and learning how color is perceived. Many years were spent at Oregon's Casey Eye Institute for rehabilitation. Sight being a struggle throughout my life, this brought on the desire to see all that I could, climb everything I can, do everything I was told I wouldn't be able along with safely accomplishing the ones I was told I shouldn't do. All of my life events & challenges have played a part in who I am and where I am now. I currently live with my husband in California, My Husband has been my biggest inspiration to express myself with art and to do the hardest thing, which for me is to share what I've spilled my guts into for others to see.
