About The Artwork

Original artwork, stretched canvas on wooden frame. Best acrylic colours, spraypaint and canvas. Surface varnished, including UV-protection. Edges black painted. Signed on the back and ready to hang. I used wire, an 70 year old doll, a figure (nurse), 100 year old postcards, a bird of wood, glued golden coloured butterflies, paper and a so called Rosenbild.

Dr. Blanka Mandel is a free-lance artist, living in Germany. She discovered her passion for painting at the age of 6. After running an independent practice she began to revive her old passion in 2013 and took part in acrylic painting workshops, organized by well-known German artists. In her artistic work, she seeks to capture the experiential space between imagination and reality, the fluid transition between the inner and outer worlds. On a formal level, this can be described as a wandering between representational and abstract painting, in which she sometimes spits powerful explosions of color onto the canvas, other times develops crystalline jagged landscape spaces or pastel places of longing. They are metaphors of existence, to which she puts in her figurative style the human dreamlike enraptured as an ephemeral appearance.
