Rich Man's House Painting

The Wall Street Journal publishes ads for fancy houses. I did a drawing of one, then a painting, which transformed a tasteful estate into a white trash lean-to, or perhaps a spacious crack house. The texture comes from household paint mixed with spackle and water applied to a large manila envelope. (I rescued 500 of these from a recycle bin.) You can see the orange of the envelope peeping through. This painting has no reason to exist, but it does reflect my obsession with Matisse's "View of Notre Dam."
