Rooted in Him Painting

Painted live at Bethesda Church, Vancouver, WA. September 8, 2017 I have been contemplating lately what life in Jesus looks like and means in our daily lives. I then stumbled upon Colossians 2:6-7. ‘You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live Him. You’re deeply rooted in Him. You’re well constructed upon Him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught... and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.’ - MSG This verse is powerful. We as believers are deeply rooted in Jesus. We don’t hope to be, we don’t strive to be - we are! The command in this verse from the Apostle Paul is to start living it, and as you live it let your life be marked with thanksgiving! I saw a picture of a thriving tree. I could see the trunk and branches as well as the root system underground. The tree was rooted in the Lamb of God - Jesus. The lamb has a halo, depicting Jesus’ holiness. There is an anchor on the lamb to symbolize that He is our Hope (Heb 6:19) along with A and Z of the Greek alphabet. He is the beginning and the end. The tree offers shade on hot days, a save haven to birds and critters; it’s branches allow for fun and leisure time - the swing; for creativity and adventure - the tree house. It also allows space for the mundane in life - the laundry. All of the items in the tree represent how we are to live in Jesus in every aspect of our lives, and in doing so, produces thanksgiving. The background colors of purples, reds and pinks symbolize royalty, His blood poured out for us that reveals our value and new life.
