About The Artwork

This is a painting from my tall long natural form series. I am striving to capture a sense of stillness, tranquillity and calm in each piece. This rosehip painting from my is unique in compositional terms and represent a fusion of realism with minimalist elements. Each painting in the series is carefully designed to focus the viewers' attention on key compositional devices, resulting in very striking and almost surreal imagery. Direct observation from nature is often combined with an imaginative and personal interpretations. This series is completed with professional quality acrylic paints and mediums and I employ a range of representational and abstract techniques. Walking around London and having a strong desire to bring calm and stillness to my daily life is the inspiration to these paintings which I realised after a process of painting a few of them. I hope the audience will feel a sense of stillness for themselves. 'Rosa' is an acrylic painting of two rosehips also known as Rose Haws, painted part from real life and part imagination. The strong tonal contrast has been incorporated to create depth and a powerful presence for the rose haws and stands out more with the background colour. The composition is a particular favourite of mine, I really enjoy the tall thin stalks carrying the beautiful serene poppyseed heads, to me it is very aesthetically pleasing and I am excited to seek out more beautiful compositions and create more dynamic poppyseed heads in terms of the colours, tone, shape, leaves and contrast. This painting has the border painted black so it can be hung without a frame, it has hanging string on the back to pop straight onto your wall. I sign all my paintings with L Corr on the front of my artworks. Thank you for your time and interest in my paintings.

Louisa Corr was born in 1988 in North West Germany, and later moved to a very different life in Doha, Qatar before gaining a Bachelor arts degree at Leeds University in 2010. Louisa's genuine passion for painting has steadily grown together with her desire to explore the differences in cultures, people and ways of living; she has also lived and worked in the cities of Vancouver and Banff in Canada. Currently, Louisa is based in North London but she also spends time in Cambridgeshire and is constantly exploring new ideas and creative possibilities. All of these rich and diverse experiences have had a profound effect on the artwork she now produces. Flowers have been a recurring subject in Louisa's paintings and she takes great pleasure in skilfully incorporating natural forms in her work; she strives to capture a sense of stillness, tranquillity and calm in each piece. Her recent series of rosehip paintings are unique in compositional terms and represent a fusion of realism with minimalist elements. Each painting is carefully designed to focus the viewers' attention on key compositional devices, resulting in very striking and almost surreal imagery. Direct observation from nature is often combined with an imaginative and personal interpretations. Louisa's recent paintings are completed with professional quality acrylic paints and mediums and she employs a range of representational and abstract techniques. To ensure longevity, Louisa's finished work is given a final protective coating using a high-quality acrylic varnish. Louisa is working on a series of abstract paintings that are designed to be visually pleasing and also ambiguous in relation to subject matter. They can be enjoyed on a purely visual level, with subtle surface qualities modulated with vibrant colours and often partially revealed through layers of more restrained tonality. These effects are created by a combination of selective scraping back and adding accents with an assortment of brushes, sponges and palette knifes. These works are often designed with a carefully structured composition encouraging the viewer to interpret each painting in a personal way. Louisa takes great pleasure in developing her portraiture work and has produced a series of large-scale, dramatic celebrity portraits. They are quite unique in stylistic terms and represent a fusion of realism with design and pattern based elements.
