Tomorrow, May 6 2023, 8 white thoroughbred horses will carry the golden carriage of the crowned Prince Charles (King Charles III). Historical event! 7-year-old Newark is one of those horses. And he is so beautiful that I could not pass by. And I drew him! In the painting, I tried to keep the variety of shades in the shadows and make the painting air and more graphic. I also added subtle details and highlights to show his tousled bangs and glowing lush lashes in the light. While painting, I often tapped with chalk, making small colored strokes and dots, this helped me to make the work more delicate, varied, colored and textured (like velvet horse hair). I am pleased with how fabulous, noble and gentle the royal horse turned out to be. I wish good luck to all participants of this important event. Materials: Soft pastels on pastel paper 160 gsm.
