About The Artwork

Donkeys and mules are used everywhere in Morocco, especially within the Medina, the old district of Marrakech. There is a place outside the city, The Donkey Sanctuary, where Susan and Charles take care of these animals when the get old and before they are slaughtered. The powerful image on a humble animal doing such a hard job in extreme heat conditions confirms it extraordinary nobility. The contrast between the animal and its surroundings is a poem to its goodness and suffering. Strathmore paper, 140 lb.
