About The Artwork
SUSURRO CAMPESTRE, or Whispers of the Fields, refers to the love for a horse, being able to communicate soul to soul with your horse. The gauchos in Argentina feel their horse is their best friend. This piece was inspired by my memories of Argentinian gauchos, and the knowledge that the Argentinian horse is one of the best in the world. This is one of a series of horses I painted in oils last year for a big show during the production of EVITA, at the Repertory Theatre in San Diego, California. I choose this style because I enjoy working in oils, fast, with quick brushstrokes, and rich colors. It was a real pleasure to ‘live” with Susurro Campestre for a few weeks.
