About The Artwork
“Salto mortale” was painted during the period when I found out that I was seriously ill, for which I had to undergo an operation with an uncertain outcome. The preparation lasted for three months, which I experienced as coming through Purgatory. Then, through painting, I was looking for an opportunity to sublimate thoughts about important concepts in my life. "Salto Mortale" was a visual outcome of the decision I made regarding my health, and the decision was that I would no longer be afraid. The very request - "not to be afraid anymore", which I set before myself was abnormal at that moment, but it is normal to behave abnormally in abnormal circumstances, right? It is that jump, that somersault that takes a man into the unknown, but saves him from destruction.
